How To Choose A Good Patio Heater

You have invited friends over to join you for the weekend and the main gathering will be on the patio and the weather forecast is calling for chilly conditions for the next few evenings. That is when a patio heater comes in handy. A patio heater can actually prolong your outdoor fun season by giving warmth to the deck or the patio. Some heaters can provide as much as 40,000 Btus of heat throughout a large enough radius.

What can be more fun that being outside with your family and not having to worry about frostbite fingers while you are getting the food ready on the barbecue thanks to very handy patio heater providing heat nearby. If you know your budget and have done your homework, you'll realize that you can find very affordable patio heaters between $100 and $200 such as the new Endless Summer as they call it, from Uniflame.

The manufacturer says that the Uniflame covers a circle up to 20 feet in diameter and is fueled by a propane gas with a 20-pound cylinder. That baby can can raise some serious heat with temperatures in the 45-70-degree range to as high as 30 degrees. That should give any party a good warm feeling all around without being too intrusive.

Most of the patio heaters are made of stainless steel, run on propane gas and will heat up to a 16ft radius and generate heat up to 30 hours on only one gas cylinder. That should be enough for your weekend (evening) parties where you plan on being between 18 - 25 hours outdoor.

Patio heater were used mostly on chic restaurant courtyards but now are getting more and more popular with inner city homes. The good thing is since it is becoming more and more popular, the price tag has gone down considerably allowing more families to enjoy a quick breakfast outside on the patio or a good family meal in the evening on the deck with a comfortable patio heater.

Another model that is also available is the the wood-burning type. Buyers must be aware that it may pose a threat due to fire hazard. You'll have to consult with the experts to find a patio heater that is both safe and yet still have a nice look. A good choice for your patios can be the Axxonn San Simeon SunStar Heater. It is a heavy-duty, infrared patio heater in stainless steel or black-and-silver painted finishes that is guaranteed to provides a circle of heat up to 20 ft. in diameter, and is tested for 40,000 Btu/hour.

You have no more reason to remain indoor during these cool autumn nights. Homeowners, deck and patio lovers can go and enjoy the night with a warm outdoor heater designed to make you enjoy your decks or patios. A quick search on the internet or a quick visit to your local store will show you the variety of heater available on the market. It is up to you to choose which one better meet your needs.

People Search Through Blogs And Social Networks

Everyones doing it. Youre probably doing it too and if youre not, you know people who are. Its been around a long time, but its only recently that it has become the big thing it is. Just as television hits used to elicit water cooler conversation, blogging is the new hot topic all over the world both online and in every day conversations. Blogs are everywhere you look on the web nowadays. Almost every web site has a blog and if they dont, they probably will soon. Its the happening thing on the internet today.

So, what is a blog? In the simplest definition possible, a blog is short for a weblog, which is a frequent, chronological publication of thoughts, news, and web links. However, a blog is also a representation of the personality of the author and/or web site who publishes the blog. Blogs range from personal thoughts, similar to a diary; to reviews on movies, books, music, etc; to specific tips for business and personal niches basically, a blog is any idea, thought, or belief the author has and wants to express. Blogs are also a part of the online social network as they encourage comments on each specific posting.

This social network that emerges is one of the more interesting aspects of a blog. Before blogs became the mainstay, internet social networking relied on, for the most part, email list-serves and message boards.

An email list-serve is a group of email addresses in which the participants all have a common interest. They have voluntarily added their email address to whichever particular list-serve(s) suit those interests. Whenever any of the members of the list-serve posts an email, it is delivered into each of the subscribers email box. The basic idea of a list-serve is to combine those who share the same career, hobby, or other interest into a cohesive list for networking through the use of emails.

A message board is simply an area dedicated, again, to a specific interest and/or topic on the web where visitors are encouraged to comment. Some message boards are for members only and these members either need to be part of the larger organization attached to the message board or they need to pay a fee to be able to view private areas of the message board. While this may sound similar to a blog, it has a few very core differences. The main difference is a message board doesnt usually have one main author who primarily posts the original topic which encourages comments, but rather, an ongoing separation of topics started by different individuals.

While both of these types of social networks still exist, and flourish, a blog offers a sense of instant gratification for both the original author and for those posting their comments. Also, as mentioned before, a blog is, in most cases, far more personal to the author and/or web site which began the discussion.

Blogs are immensely popular worldwide. In the United States alone there are over 8 million blogs in existence on the web. Why are they so popular? What is the appeal for people to not only create their own blog but also for those reading and posting to blogs? Some of the reasons are as follows:

  • Information for the reader, tons of information from the original viewpoint of the author and then additional bits gathered from the comments. Often, this gives the reader more avenues to collect data at one source before moving on to another. Also, it allows everyone concerned with the blog the ability to more readily see other points of view on any topic that is being discussed.
  • Personality for both the original author and the writers of the follow-up comments, being able to express a viewpoint exactly how they want to, in their words, is a key motivator. For those who only like to read blogs and dont post their own comments, getting a birds-eye view into another persons mind is often exhilarating. Its akin to reading someones diary with permission.
  • Self-Publishing to a World-Wide Audience for both the original authors and the writers of the follow-up comments, a blog offers instant exposure to anyone who clicks on the appropriate link to access that particular blog. Also, with rss feeds (methods of distributing links or syndicating content) to other blogs or web sites, the audience can indeed become world-wide. For those wanting to get their opinions across to a large amount of people, blogs are an excellent way to enable this.
  • Increase Business any business can profit from enabling a blog on their web site. This is because blogs tend to increase traffic to the site the blog is located at. Once viewers are there to read and comment on that day, week, or months blog entry, they may just take some time to investigate the rest of the site which can, and often does, lead to increased revenue.
  • Immediate Feedback the ability for readers to provide immediate feedback by virtue of writing their comment to the original entry is appealing to both the readers and the original author. If the original author is looking for specific feedback to enable them to move ahead in some form of action, this is extremely useful to them. For the reader, being able to rebut something they disagree with, and offer further illumination on the topic, or to add more of an insight if their opinion agrees with the original authors is an added incentive not found in other forms of internet media.
  • Sense of Community for all those involved with a blog, a sense of community establishes itself over time. The author and the readers develop a sort of camaraderie with each other, as well as a strong involvement with each other via the blog. They incorporate the blog into their daily life.
Because of this popularity; social networks, blogs in particular, are literally a plethora of information available for the taking. While this often has more to do with the general topics of discussion, it can also assist in online investigation techniques.

From conducting background checks to people searches, blogs can assist you in nailing down pertinent facts. This is a huge field for locating possible information on another person you are trying to learn more about, or even to simply find. The basics, however, are actually pretty simple.

  • Start with any of the online search engines and simply type in the name of the person you are seeking background information on. Also, please note there are specific search sites that focus their searches on blogs these can be immensely useful. Regardless of what type of search engine you use, if they have a common name you may get numerous hits. Tips to help you are:
  • Research each link you get. While you may gather plenty of information this way, you may also find areas youre not sure are relevant. Make notes of these bits of information and bookmark the sites linked so you can find them again easily later.
  • Use whatever identifying information you have on this individual to confirm or negate the links you have found.
  • Once you have done the above, compile any information you do find. Maybe the link brought you to a web site on a specific interest, such as collecting antiques now you know an interest of your subject you may not have known before, which opens up additional areas of investigation.
  • Often, specific interest web sites, message boards, etc., will require a person to become a member in order to post, which means they will have a login name for that site. In many cases, these login names are noted ALONG WITH the individuals real life name. If you find a login name at any of the links associated with the persons real life name, write it down.
  • Most people use the same, or similar, handles, in every situation that they have to sign in to use a service. Now you have another keyword to use as search criteria. Try this on yourself if you are doubtfuluse your personal login name as search criteria and see what pops up, youll probably be surprised at how often posts you have made are linked for the world to see.
  • If youve found a login name, or several, that are connected to your individual, start the search over with that name and investigate those hits.
  • When investigating the hits, you want to be on the lookout for any and all information that may be useful. If in doubt, write and link everything down for future reference. Facts you may find from blogs, message boards, and other sources of online social networking include:
  • Facts on the person via a profile, which may include name, general location of residence (i.e. country, city, state), areas of personal and business interest.
  • Other affiliations, both business and personal, that you can then follow up with to locate additional information. Maybe theres a mention of membership in an organization that has a web site and blog and/or message board of their own. You immediately have another possible source for locating more information.
  • In blog comments and message board posts, personal information the individual typed. Anything from the name of their dog to the name of their spouse, children, place of business, university they attended, where they vacationed anything is possible. It pays to be thorough and read every word. People tend to relate topics to themselves and their own lives, which will mean referencing those facts when writing.
  • Seminars, conferences, and social get-togethers the individual has attended in the past which will lead you to possible upcoming events they may be planning on attending in the future. Most of these types of events publish a list of registered attendees for public viewing as it helps increase further attendance.
  • Links to other blogs and message boards the person is involved with may be associated with any material the individual has written.
  • And the jackpot a biography on the individual. Often, especially if they have their own blog and/or web site, you will be able to find a biography about the person youre attempting to locate more information on. Biographies discuss everything from family to business to personal facts on the person they are written about.
By utilizing blogs and other social networks, you can find information that you wouldnt otherwise. Do not leave out this important step in any investigation you are undertaking on an individual for whatever reason. With blogs as highly popular as they are, chances are with patience, deliberation, and a focused search youll discover many other avenues to assist you in your investigation.

Remember any activity one undertakes on the web leaves tracks of that person. Locating and then following those tracks are an extremely important step to take in ANY investigation.

Peritoneal Mesothelioma Diagnosis

The diagnosis for Peritoneal Mesothelioma begins with the thorough review of the patients medical history to determine symptoms and any past asbestos exposure, as well as a complete physical. In addition, sometimes physicians might request an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan or an X-ray of the abdomen or chest region to help determine the location and size of the tumor. In an MRI, a powerful magnet linked to a computer is used to make detailed pictures of areas inside the body. These pictures are viewed on a monitor and can also be printed, clearly depicting the areas affected with the tumor.

In cases of pleural and peritoneal mesothelioma, fluid (effusion) may collect in the chest or abdominal region. In such cases, physicians may use a procedure known as fine needle aspiration to obtain a sample of this fluid for further testing. In addition, this procedure can be used to drain the effusion to temporarily relieve chest pain or other painful symptoms.

Usually, a biopsy of the tumor is required to confirm a diagnosis of mesothelioma, however, sometimes only an effusion sample is needed. Some of the procedures commonly used for the diagnosis of the peritoneal mesothelioma include peritoneoscopy, thoracoscopy, and biopsy. With peritoneoscopy, the doctor will use a tool called a peritoneoscope, which is placed inside an opening made in the patient's abdomen. Fluid, if found, is then drained; the process of draining the fluid is called paracentesis, and it requires a needle to be placed inside the abdomen in order to extract the fluid.

In thoracoscopy a doctor uses a special instrument called a thoracoscope in order to examine the patient's chest cavity. An incision is made in the chest wall, and the thoracoscope is placed between the patient's ribs. If the fluid is found in the chest, the doctor drains it from the chest cavity through a needle. A thoracoscopy commonly requires an anesthetic or some other form of pain suppression.

In a biopsy, if cancerous tissue is found in the patient's lungs or abdomen it will be extracted and examined by the doctor. This process helps the doctor determine potential ways of treatment and is usually done during one of the other two processes or may require additional surgery.

Modern GPS and Trucking

It has often been said that Global Positioning Systems have changed everything. That would be a hard statement to debate in the Transportation Sector or the Trucking Industry. Routing and scheduling through the use of GPS technologies have been a Godsend for truckers and trucking companies a like. Such tools have improved efficiency to the point of close to perfection.

GPS has also changed the way we live and the way we drive our cars too. People now have personal GPS units for hiking, sailing, off-roading and just about any potential application. You can buy a GPS unit for your bicycle good within 20 meters. The make lightweight jogging GPS units too and most pilots have one in the plane in case they have to crash land they can know where they are.

What About The Trucking Industry?

The same scenario goes for the trucking industry. If you drive a truck think about it. How many times have you been in a truck and heading down a street which has been re-arranged and changed and then you wondered how you are going to turn around again? Big issues and this causes problems, traffic, dangerous choices and wasted time, fuel and aggravation. GPS is great when it is working right and when the vendors have their act together, if not, we all lose.

GPS units for truckers save them fuel and since trucks only get about 5 miles to the gallon and sometimes you have to drive two to three miles just to find a place to turn around in case you miss a turn, we are talking a very fast return on investment if you buy a new GPS unit. It is serious business and if you drive a truck you NEED a good solid GPS unit.

Term or Permanent Life Insurance-How To Choose-Part-I

I sometimes wonder, if I find it hard in choosing a proper life insurance policy that could serve my specific needs, then what a layman will do at the early stage of his carrier? We often procrastinate/neglect or realize lately, the practical utility of an insurance policy when we experience an event of severe mischance that happens to someone close to us. The entire family may suffers financially.

Purchasing a life insurance is one the most important decision you ever make in your financial life. Some questions may ask-1. Why do we buy a life insurance? 2. How much should we buy? and 3. What sort of policy shall we to buy?

Now, looking at the first question, we may eventually say that our nearest beneficiary would be our spouse and children (if we are married), our aged parents, our business related partners & employees.

Going to the second one,we would consider the different aspects just after the unexpected demise of the insured person such as probable short term expenses e.g. funeral expenses, uninsured medical expenses, taxes, debts, mortgage etc. Current day to day expenses are food, housing, clothing, health-care, insurance, transportation & other misc. And Future expenses are childrens education, retirement, savings etc.

Many experts argue that we should have life insurance as per some rough calculation= Our annual income x 5 times or 20 times. Whichever you choose, itll serve the purpose. Now, after the insureds death, his family may have other source of income such as earnings from spouses job, savings, investments, insurance etc. So, how much life insurance do we need? It is workout just deducting the sum total of our possible expenses from the probable future earnings of insureds dependent family. You can do your financial need analysis or use life calculator on practical basis to arrive at probable life insurance coverages.

And what sort of life policy will serve you best will depend upon several factors such as how long you need the insurance, your budget etc. Term or Pure policy suit someone while Permanent or Cash value policy meets long term need. Now, which one will suit you most is needed an elaborate discussion.

How to Survive on Mac & Cheese When Starting as a VA

I had the great fortune to be able to attend one of the online networking events sponsored through the CVAC today and despite the technical glitches and spattered speech patterns, it was simply wonderful to see (and sporadically hear!) my other fellow VAs.

I see their names on posts asking multitudes of complicated questions and they all sound so stunningly professional and capable that quite frankly, at times Im awestruck! While I definitely enjoy belonging to this wonderful group of talented gals (and guys) some days I swear yall are speaking another language or in some sort of highly secretive code that only rocket scientists or persons from another galaxy far, far away can decipher.

Im a wordsmith period. I do not know how to do anything more technical than to reset the bloody clock on my computer and microwave after a power outage. Bits and Bytes are some sort of couch potato snack thats consumed while salivating over the hunks who parade their stuff on Desperate Housewives. I do know how to download files I do it all the time actually and hit run instead of save. This has caused all sorts of fun as invariably at some point Ill have to uninstall the program I downloaded from www.whatsupdoc*.com because its causing my email address to be sent to a colony of pigmys in Bora Bora who are now filling up my inbox with offers to sell me shares in the their lucrative vanilla bean processing companies. (Does the phase Hey mon, dis deal is good! sound familiar to any of you?)

Anyhow, I digress as per usual. The real point (and there is one coming be patient people!) is this How to Survive on Mac & Cheese While Starting Your VA Business. Many more qualified VAs can supply you with all the wonderful and necessary tools to successfully complete the start-up phase of your business. Im here to provide the meat and potatoes of how to survive your first year and stay reasonably sane. So, heres my 2.5 cents worth of advice, including HST, PST, GST, and any other freaking tax that can possibly be levied by our government, on how to maintain your double digit figure (Size 12 is nice!) when starting your VA biz.

1. Clip coupons. Any coupons! Even if youve never dined on baked Spam with a honey-mustard glaze, save that .75 cent coupon. Rip, tear, snip and scissor cut ALL coupons and attach them to your fridge with a motivational magnet that says something like Dont eat a T-bone save a cow! It will make dining on that Spam so much more pleasant. Also, save any/all coupons for more than 1.00 off anything! You never know who you might be able to barter those coupons with to get one you might actually be able to use. Personally, Ive found the Gillette mens shaving cream to be absolutely wonderful, in particular the gel formula. Be a tad wary though as you may have to fight to use it, especially if you have someone from the male species living in your house. This applies to their razors as well. Word of caution: Make sure that your bathroom door locks from the inside before using these 2 products. Much safer this way.

2. Walk. As in walk to the grocery store with your bag of coupons safely stowed in your tote-sized purse. Walking will not only provide you with much needed exercise but it will save on that precious liquid gold called gasoline. When youre in the start-up phase of your business, youre going to want to conserve as much gas as possible (with the exception of that caused by eating the baked Spam), to be able to go see potential clients. Just think of how much money youll save by walking to the store and dragging home 6 grocery bags filled with tomato soup, Spam and good ol mac and cheese dinners! Better yet, walking will help you walk off those mega calories consumed from the aforementioned carbs. After all, youre now a VA and most likely are sitting in your computer chair (oh - get the slightly used ones at your local Salvation Army and use duct tape to fix that broken armrest youre not going to need two anyhow plus wheels arent really that big a deal), so youll likely be starting to see signs of that dreaded condition of BS i.e. Butt Spreading.

3. Get a VA or other Start-up Business Buddy. Go through the list of qualified VAs on CVAC, (or any other business forum you might belong to), and find one whos willing to listen to you whine, complain, cry and lament about anything and everything via email and MSN messenger. Try and find one that possibly has a sense of humor because theyre going to need it when dealing with you. This is a very necessary step as having someone else to commiserate with over the lack of clients beating down your door to avail themselves of your stupendous services, helps keep you reasonably sane. Check to see if they also offer motivational tapes, cds etc. or were formerly on their high school cheer leading squad. Youre going to want one that will keep your spirits high (instead of you having to rely on spirits to get high), and generally offer words of wisdom or not. Be very choosy here. If they keep answering your email messages telling you that theyve now filed a complaint of IM Stalking, I highly suggest you stop talking to them immediately. Perhaps a change of email accounts would be a good move here also.

4. Laugh More Worry Less. This is the biggie folks! If throughout your first year of building your business, you can sit back and have just one gut-clenching, tear-wrenching belly laugh a day, youll make it! If you lose a potential client tough its their loss, not yours. If you gain a client way to go! As the old saying goes, Dont sweat the small stuff and dont pet the sweaty stuff or something like that. Believe in yourself and what you do. You are the best thing since sliced bread (even if youre one sandwich short of a picnic as in my case), and with sheer determination, willpower and blackmail, you WILL get that first client guaranteed! Make sure to ask for testimonials and post them on your website, blog, carve them on a log, and staple brag sheets on the Articles for Sale announcement board at your local supermarket. Hey, they know who you are, right? Youve only been walking there three times a week for 5 months now, lugging that folding shopping cart behind you and fumbling through your coupon clutch at the cashiers wicket, causing everyone behind you to start muttering under their breath about the idiot at the front of the line. Theyll most likely be glad to give you a glowing recommendationif youll just go shop somewhere else.

I do hope that these 4 tips help assist you if youre suffering from the first year VA business blues. If not, oh well, I tried. Please do not email me to be your VA buddy as Ive had to change my ISP, my email account names and MSN Messenger names five times already. Huh. Some people just have NO sense of humor!
