Sir Tim Berners-Lee was the first Web designer and the inventor of the World Wide Web. He launched the first online website in 6 August 1991. He summed up the Internet communication (compiled with emails) with hypertext transfer protocols.

Initially the Web designing was based upon the simple markup languages, functionality of these languages was very limited. At that time only the hyper linking between the pages and layout services were available; it became more extensible and rich in context with the advancement of Web technology and Web design.

As the time progressed the Web designing languages changed their faces, one of the main drastic change was the dynamicity of the pages along with the database applications. This particular change cropped up some new languages like VBscript, JavaScript, ASP, ASP.Net, Cold fusion etc. These languages are used to create server-side scripting technology.

CSS and Tables:

Tales were hugely used in the time of Netscape Navigator, which even supports the nested tables. But as the Internet Explorer took over the browser market the whole concept was altered by implementing CSS (Cascading Style Sheet). CSS emphasized on the semantic markup of HTML, not on the lay out in the table; by which it helps the search engine spiders to understand what is going on inside the page.

Flash and the web applications:

With the invention of Flash, the web applications became more lucrative and popular, while the technology became more complex. Flash was introduced by Macromedia in 1996 to promote a TV-like application in the world of Web. It was made by Jonathan Gay; it has made its mark within a very short period of time in the World of Web.

The animated figures, movies, games can be made by Flash, so it is very useful for developing attractive web applications. Flash has already crossed its fifth version and contains a large amount of codes for developing graphical interfaces. Today it has over 500,000 developers and runs in over 250 million computers.

Photoshop and Web Applications:

Photoshop was invented by the Knoll brothers- Thomas and John Knoll. The development started in 1987 when they both were working on a digital image process project.

Initially they invented a small subroutine for computer graphics and applied it into a program called Display. In 1990 Adobe published the first official version - Photoshop1.0 which was the improved version of that subroutine.

After its release Photoshop captured the top position in the Graphics market. Now Photoshop 7.0 is in the market and has knocked down all its competitors. Photoshop is compatible with both the Windows and Mac O.S.

Dynamic web design:

The Web pages can be designed dynamically by two ways - Server-side and Client-side methods.

Server-side scripting is based on the Web server technology where a user's requirement is accomplished by executing a script directly in the server. This technique is used to create the user-interactive pages where the third-party interferences like databases or animated movies are required.

This technology provides more control over the script and more functionalities of script. Examples of Server-side scripting languages are ASP, ASP, .NET, JavaScript, Cold Fusion etc.

Client-side scripting is based on the modules of Web programs that are run in the user's browser on client-side. These programs are not executed in the Web Server. These applications are generally implemented for ornamenting the pages and for calling some environmental variables etc. Example of Client-side scripting language is JavaScript.

How would you like to have a really intelligent, honest and well educated president? How about a Harvard graduate? Well, would you believe that Mexico has a 12 consecutive year run of Harvard alumni presidents?

Prior to the new millennium, the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) or its predecessor revolutionary parties, had held power for over 70 years in Mexico and was a member of Socialist International. They promised to take care of and protect the poor; however after several decades in power, the PRI became the symbol of corruption and electoral fraud. La Mordida, or the bite, is the term for bribery in Mexico and was the traditional and customary way to get things done. Police and state bureaucrats made their living taking Mordidas which was the basis for corruption in Mexico. Thanks to the PRI philosophies toward nationalization, expropriation, authoritarianism, and state control of the economy, Mexico held a Third World status for 80 years. With those philosophies, Mexico was probably not the best place for foreigners to invest in real estate, or for that matter, anything else.

The situation in Mexico changed dramatically in 2000 when Vicente Fox of the National Action Party (PAN) first took over power for a six year presidential term lasting until 2006. Prior to his presidency, Fox had earned a Top Management Skills degree from the Business School of Harvard University and had then worked his way up to the presidency of Coca Cola Mexico and head of all Coca Cola Latin America. While President of Mexico, Fox established a new Ministry of Security and Police, doubled the pay for police officers, and cracked down on crime by improving the Mexican judicial system which had been rife with corruption and ineptitude. The Human Development Index (HDI) is a comparable measure of life expectancy, literacy, education, and standard of living for countries worldwide.

During Foxs presidency, Mexico maintained an HDI of 0.8 which represents high development. In comparison, many countries such as Canada, France, and Great Britain, generated low increases and even some decreases in HDI figures. Real wages dropped 305% from 1976 to 1999, however since PAN has been in office, real wages have not only stabilized, but are starting to increase. Fox represented the Alliance for Change. He was one of the few Mexican presidents to avoid a major economic upheaval during office, whereas previously, the Mexicans were accustomed to devastating peso devaluations. During the ten years that we've lived in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the peso has held firm at about 10.8 pesos per US dollar.

Foxs term expired in 2006, when his successor, Felipe Calderon, also with the PAN party, won a very close election. Calderon holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and will serve as President of Mexico until 2012. He supports balanced fiscal trade, flat taxes, lower taxes, and free trade. His motto is to Drive Mexico Into the Future which represents privatization, liberalization, political freedom, and market control of the economy.

These two Harvard graduates have taken Mexico from a Third World Country to a Newly Industrialized Country (NIC) in a very short period of time and are continuing to advance the economy. As an NIC, Mexico has joined the ranks with countries such as China, India, Brazil, Turkey, etc. en route to becoming First World Industrialized Countries. Recently, Mexico has changed from being a beneficiary to a full contributor to the United Nations Development Program. The Mexican Bolsa, or stock market, has more than tripled during the ten years that we've lived in Vallarta. The PRI party, still holds local power in the poorest states of Mexico; those where the inhabitants have the least education and are still waiting for subsidies from the government. However, the state of Jalisco where the capital is Guadalajara and the second largest city is Puerto Vallarta, is one of the many states where the local PAN party is in power.

This change in power has been quite remarkable and evident in Vallarta during the last seven years. Mordidas are seldom seen anymore in PV because the public officials are not willing to jeopardize their decent paying employment for a small bribe. The economy along the Mexican Riviera is booming today as an explosion of growth due to tourism and North American immigration has brought phenomenal amounts of money to the region. This in turn has created full employment of the locals and a very positive outlook for them as their standard of living constantly improves. During the past seven years, the Mexican government has spent billions of dollars improving and upgrading the infrastructures throughout the resort destinations. Puerto Vallarta has new water treatment facilities, power distribution systems, hospitals, university, upgraded airport, maritime terminal, highway system, etc. and is being prepared for the next five years of growth.

We have owned property here in Vallarta, located in the foot hills of the Sierra Madres overlooking Banderas Bay on the Pacific Ocean, for 24 years and have made Paradise our permanent residence for the past ten years. During the first 15 years, there were virtually no changes made here and the property values reflected it. However, during the years that PAN has been in power, the changes have been obvious and dramatic. Our villa has tripled in value and is expected to double again in the next five years as the baby boomers discover Paradise. For any American or Canadian considering investments such as real estate in a foreign country, its imperative to understand the stability of that foreign government. Fortunately, Mexico has been governed by US friendly Harvard graduates for the past seven years and will be for at least the next five years, thus assuring a safe and secure investing environment for retiring North Americans. Apparently, politics can have an influence on Paradise!

Choosing your home mortgage is a negotiation. The mortgage broker is trying to negotiate the best deal for his client that will still be profitable for him. Meanwhile, the consumer is negotiating the lowest possible rates and costs that he or she can get the mortgage broker to agree with. It’s very similar to the tug-of-war involved with buying a car from a local dealer.

It has been said that “knowledge is power” and this is most true when it comes to negotiation. Scouring over the Good Faith Estimate gives you the ultimate power. The knowledge of how your costs are calculated. It is impossible for someone to pull the wool over your eyes when you are staring at every last detail of your loan.

The Good Faith Estimate can also be a weapon for the honest mortgage brokers. Mortgage shoppers come to me all the time that say they have found a great deal online or in a local paper. They say that the offer seems too good to be true. By sitting down and examining the “GFE” we can often determine whether it is or isn’t "too good to be true" and we uncover surprises and obstacles the other broker would be sure to run into. This gives the “good brokers” power to overcome a “too good to be true” offer.

My suggestion to homebuyers is to be very careful of the outrageous offers and make sure you get a detailed explanation of your loan first. Then, make sure your broker supplies you with a Good Faith Estimate. Visit him again and have him explain each and every line item to you. Some of the figures on the GFE are estimates while others are solid. Find out which are which. This will ensure that your broker stays true to his fees.

There is a widely held view in the world of Windows Computer Users that the best way to keep a Windows computer clean and running well is to periodically reinstall Microsoft Windows on that computer.

Well, it is true that doing this will indeed keep the computer running well, but only by accepting the substantial downside of complete reinstalls; you have to spend the time to reinstall the OS, then reinstall all your packages, then reconfigure your settings, then reinstall all your data. And, if you are not careful about backups or if you happen to make a mistake along the way, you will lose data. Particularly in the case of a machine that is used to support a business, this risk is simply unacceptable.

The fact is that it is almost never necessary to reinstall Microsoft Windows. Here at Just So Software, we have a laptop which sees heavy use that runs Windows XP Professional, and that laptop is on its third hard drive - and we have NEVER reinstalled Windows XP on it in the more than six years we have had it, even when recovering from a failing hard drive.

While recovering a complete environment from a failing hard drive is not something most people are capable of doing, everyone IS capable of doing the routine maintenance necessary to keep Microsoft Windows running well.

This maintenance consists of periodically running chkdsk, periodically defragmenting the hard drive, keeping up with security updates, and periodically cleaning out hard drive detritus (using the cleanup tool that Windows provides). Beyond that, keep your firewall in place and working, do not use Internet Explorer or Outlook Express, periodically scan for spyware and periodically scan for viruses (I do not even use an active virus checker anymore; I just periodically scan using Trend Micro's Housecall and nothing ever turns up due to my other protocols).

Beyond that - and this is VERY important - keep an eye on what processes are running and what is scheduled to start when the system does. Many software packages you might install (shareware OR commercial) will start things you do not want and do not need, and will make them run at startup. This is an important cause of Windows system slowdown as the system ages. For example, both Quicktime and Realplayer shovel the startup junk at you when you install them. Keep an eye on what is set to start up, and take out the trash.

In this series of articles, I will take you through the details of actually performing this maintenance. By doing these things routinely, you will protect your system against the "bit rot" and slowdowns that plague Windows computers and cause many people to reinstall Windows.

My husband and I are what anyone would call "planners". Our budget has always been tight. So when we arrived at anniversary #23, our attentions went to a special planning for our silver celebration. We are not party people and we are very close with our immediate family members-seeing them all at least a couple of times during the week. So it was our desire to have a more intimate get-together. In plain language, we wanted to spend it alone.

We had been on a couple of Celebrity cruises and loved the pampering, the ship, ports (we happen to love the Caribbean), tours and people we met. Another cruise on one of the Millennium ships would have been a pleasure. However, we wished to see and do something different and it was the Princess line that wound up getting our business for this auspicious occasion. Plus, we heard they had a special anniversary renewal of vows package.

We chose to "re-marry" on our second night aboard. Two days early of our anniversary, but they explained there were already three other celebrations set for that evening.

In dealing with the wedding planner, we found out that on average she co-ordinated usually 10 weddings and up to 5 renewal of vows ceremonies during a sailing. Some were planned way in advance-such as ours. Others waited until the week before boarding. Most took place in the ships very lovely chapel. It holds up to 50 people. During our voyage, one couple opted to use the jogging lanes (they were closed that afternoon) overlooking the ocean. The captain oversees all the ceremonies. Depending on the package, the bare minimum is a beautiful bouquet for the bride, a boutonniere for the groom, flowers on the aisle and a photographer. For added fees, of course, you may have someone videotape the ceremony, a champagne toast and a framed photo of your choice. Actual albums are available for purchase, as well as the photos.

Here is a caveat on the photo department! Our package came with a framed 8 x 10 photo of our choice. When we went down to pick it out-no one knew what we were talking about! Thankfully, the lovely wedding planner came to the rescue and cleared up the mistake. Also, maybe it was our bad misfortune, but truly, all of the pictures were awful. We chose the best of the worst. In this case, that's the only memory we will physically have of our lovely event. We did get a new "license", which we also framed, once we returned home.

The captain did a very lovely job. Believe it or not, my handsome husband of a quarter century and I were more nervous than during the original vows! It was very romantic-it set up the tone for the rest of the trip. We had made reservations at one of the specialty restaurants. When the staff saw my bouquet, they asked if we were newlyweds! When we explained it was our 25th anniversary-they truly pulled out all possible stops and made the evening more special. The other diners came over and congratulated us.

Our daughter and son-in-law decided that a perfect gift was to order us a champagne brunch,served on the morning of our choice, in our cabin. It was a very nice way to spend the morning after the ceremony. The staff, still aware of it being a special occasion, set up the china and then left us alone.

We came back from our latest foray in the Caribbean with a new sense of romance and appreciation for our love.

Planning for our 27th anniversary began as soon as we arrived back at home. While we have nothing be wonderful memories from our time on the Princess line, we have still decided to return for our third cruise with Celebrity. We've always wanted to spend some actual time in San Juan, Puerto Rico. All of our prior cruises have started and ended in this beautiful port, that was the deciding factor for 2008.

Group insurance plans for life policy is intended for one contract that offers coverage for a group. Life insurance policies usually are taking out by an entity or employer. Some of the plans offer employees a variety of options over coverage. It depends on what type of policy an employer will take out. For example, if an employer took out the Cobra plan then it would cover his employees, their families and so on. Some plans may offer medical, dental and unemployment. Usually, group life insurance is a packaged benefit option that gives employees complete coverage. I was wondering about how everything we know came together to be the way it is right now and what will happen to us as a species.

The story of everything started 15 billion years ago.

The universe, as we know it, was created by an enormous explosion of matter to create space-time. A fiery, dense universe started to inflate.

For three billion years, optically dense matter/energy decoupled and created an invisible universe.

It took another billion years for clusters of matter to form. As heavier nuclei synthesized they formed protogalaxies.

After more than 5 billion years after the big bang, galaxies formed. Later, new galaxies, more like our own, with heavier nuclei came into being.

Around the 10 billion year-mark, our solar system, with orbiting planets formed.

A billion years later, in the primordial oceans of earth, atoms combined to form macromolecules capable of self-reproduction and self-assembly. This was DNA, the basis of all life.

DNA is the alphabet of life. Two strands of a double helix are linked by pairs of bases. There are four bases: adenine, guanine, thymine, and cytosine. All living organisms are formed by these four bases.

DNA resembles a spiral staircase and the order of how the bases are arranged in it create a particular organism. This DNA assembles an organism around it and copies itself. This copying is not always accurate. In most cases, the new mutations result in those organisms dying out. In some cases, however, it increases the chances of the DNA surviving and becomes biological adaptation.

Around 3 million years ago, our first ancestors inhabited the earth. They became increasingly more sophisticated. From the first hominid to 8,000 B.C. was the Old Stone Age; from 8,000 B.C. to 6,000 B.C. was the Stone Age, and from 6,000 B.C. to 3,000 B.C. was the New Stone Age. From 3,000 B.C. to 2, 000 B.C. was the Bronze Age. And from 2,000 B.C. to the time the Christian calendar begins was the Iron Age.

The last millennium covered the Middle Ages to the Modern Age. The most critical stages came after the fall of the Roman Empire, the Dark Ages; the pestilence that spread from Asia all the way to Africa, the Black Death; and the two world wars, which has resulted in the new threat of nuclear proliferation.

Where will we go now?

The next 100 years will be the most critical. It is at this stage where the pressure of new changes will force themselves on us. Besides the obvious political and economic problems, there are new problems that threaten our survival as a species: nuclear proliferation, environmental disasters, the population explosion, and epidemics and famines.

One solution may be the creation of a world government because the problems will be too much for any one nation. Assuming that by sharing of resources, peace and stability is established and most of our critical problems are solved, there will still be an evolutionary thrust to push us to build civilizations under the sea and move towards space. The reason for this is that the world population will be around 36 billion people at the end of the century if it continues at its current rate of 1.9 percent, which means that it doubles every 40 years.

This will result in the creation of a new species of human beings to cope with building and inhabiting the new environments. Failure to do this will mean that by the year 2600, people will be standing shoulder to shoulder and the earth will literally be red-hot because of electrical consumption.

Over the past 10,000 years, there has been no significant change in human DNA, but it may all change dramatically over the next 1000 years as genetic engineering works on creating improved human beings. It will probably start with plants and animals, with many restrictions against it being used on human beings, but someone will break the taboo and start creating human beings outside the womb. These human beings will not be restricted by the size of the birth canal and will grow bigger brains. Our current brains are 3 pounds. Future brains may be around 5 pounds. They will also probably be bigger and stronger than we are now.

Overall, the entire thrust of everything, from our perspective, has been the evolution of matter from nothing, then life forms from apparent random permutations, and then the evolution of one particular species until it took over the entire planet.

It's an amazing story.

Of course there are many missing links to it--

What happened before the big bang? What banged? How did the atoms necessary for life sort themselves out to create the macromolecule that defined all life? How did one creature create a superior brain and nervous system?

One thing is for sure: the future is not going to be anything like the past. The prevailing wisdom that there is nothing new under the sun is in for a shock.

Federal banking regulators have recently expressed some concern over the housing market as home prices in the United States have risen to record levels. While homes are more unaffordable than ever for many people, the lending market remains strong, mostly because of the introduction of new, ever-more-flexible types of loans. While these newer loan types, such as the interest-only loan, make buying a home easier for some borrowers, they also propose a greater risk to the lender.

The lending market has been quite aggressive during the last five years, as investors and homebuyers have purchased real estate in record numbers. Buyers who are skittish about investing in stocks have put their money into real estate instead, and prices have climbed to record levels. Lenders have been all too happy to accommodate the long line of customers in their offices with an ever-increasing array of products. With hundreds of loan types available, nearly everyone can qualify for some type of mortgage today. The problem, as regulators point out, is that some of the more popular types of loans are inherently risky. Two such examples are the interest-only loan, and home equity loans that exceed 100% of a homes value.

The problem with such loans is that they are both issued under the assumption that home prices will continue to rise. Prices may continue to rise, but if they dont or worse, if they fall, lenders could find themselves in the ugly position of holding liens on property that is worth considerably less than the amount of the loan. As of yet, theres no sign of a crash in real estate prices, but foreclosures are up in both Texas and Florida, and this could be an indictor of more difficult times ahead for the lending industry. The banking regulators didnt issue any orders regarding how high-risk loans should be handled, but they did caution lenders to check the credit scores of borrowers carefully and to eschew or cut back on so-called no-doc loans, which do not require full documentation of a borrowers assets or income.

This should be of relatively little concern for the average borrower, who would probably think that such guidelines represent ordinary common sense. If more money meant better education for our kids, our public schools should have vastly improved over the last 75 years. Yet the reverse is true. In dollars adjusted for inflation, public schools spent about $876 per year for elementary and secondary school students in 1930, when student literacy rates were close to 90 percent. In contrast, in 2003 public schools spent about $7500 per student, while literacy rates fell to the 50-70 percent level in many public schools.

In the year 2000, the five states whose students got the highest SAT scores were North Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and South Dakota. Yet, per-pupil spending in North Dakota ranked forty-first among the states, in Iowa twenty-fifth, Wisconsin tenth, Minnesota sixteenth, and South Dakota a lowly forty-eighth.

In contrast, the District of Columbia had the fourth highest per-student spending of all the states but ranked almost at the bottom of the list (50th out of 50 states and the District of Columbia) in student achievement. Clearly, there is little correlation between money spent per student and student achievement.

A 1990 Rand Corporation study showed that private Catholic schools do a better job educating children than public schools. The study compared thirteen New York City public, private, and Catholic high schools that had many minority students.

Yet, the average annual tuition costs for Catholic and Protestant-affiliated schools for the 2002-2003 school year were approximately $3500-$4000 per elementary-school pupil and $5500-$6000 per Secondary school pupil. The average public-school cost per pupil was approximately $7500. Catholic and Protestant-affiliated schools therefore give their students a better education for less money than public schools spend.

When we compare the academic record of home-schooled vs. public-school students, the cost vs. achievement differences are even more startling. In 1998, the Home School Legal Defense Association commissioned Larry Rudner, statistician and measurement expert at the University of Maryland, to do a study on the academic achievement levels of home-schooled students.

The study tested 20,000 home-schooled students on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS). The study found that home-schooled students did extremely well on the test compared to public school students. Home-schooled kids scored in the 75th to 85th percentile range, compared with the 50th percentile national average for public-school students across the country.

The study found that in every subject and grade level of the ITBS battery of tests, home-schooled students scored significantly higher than public and private school students. On average, homeschool students in the first to fourth grades performed one grade level higher than comparable public and private school students. By the fifth grade, the gap began to widen, and by the eighth grade, the average home-schooled student performed four grade levels above the national average.

Home-schooling parents not only give their kids a superior education, but spend far less than public schools. For example, some excellent phonics reading programs cost less than $150. Even if we assumed that an average homeschooling parent spent about $1500 a year on learn-to-read or learn-math books, computer learning software, and other learning materials, that is about one-quarter the average $7500-a-year that public schools spend per student. Clearly, once again, it is obvious that more money does not guarantee a better education.

For over 40 years they have been trying to fix the public schools. Thats long enough. I think that after 40 years we can safely conclude that the government bureaucrats who run these schools are not up to the task of giving our kids the great education they deserve.

Public schools are beyond repair and can not be fixed, ever, simply because they are a government owned-and-operated coercive monopoly that strangles a free market in education and parental choice. Throwing more hundreds of billions of tax dollars at these schools is a complete waste of time and a criminal waste of precious resources, including our childrens minds and future.

Its time we scrapped the public-school system. Lets just bury this education dinosaur, once and for all. Once public schools were scrapped, we can then give parents back the thousands of dollars a year they now pay for school taxes or income taxes that propped up the public schools. With these tax refunds, parents can then pay for their own childrens education in a fiercely competitive education free market in which the quality of education for our kids keeps getting better, while tuition costs go down.
