Progesterone Side Effects

There are also holistic remedies known as "immune response modifiers." These don't use special chemicals, but use natural acids that help your body's immune system fight the virus. They are used for other skin ailments as well.

If you suffer from genital warts, keep in mind that there still is no cure for the virus that causes them. Your treatment will make the warts disappear and make you feel better, but it will not get rid of the virus. You will have it for the rest of your life, and may experience periodic outbreaks in the future. Also remember that condoms are not always effective in preventing the spread of the virus. This is because they do not protect the part of the body that has warts. Spam - It's What's For Breakfast

The first thing I do every morning when I wake up is head for my computer. It holds the secrets to my day. I read my e-mails from several accounts, check my schedule on my Outlook calendar and even find out how much money I can spend that day from my bank's Web site. I'd be lost without my computer.

However, I have one huge frustration - privacy invasion. In the last three months alone I have had the privacy of my personal computer invaded in so many ways I am starting to feel like it is public property instead of my own property.

My home page has been changed without my consent. My search engine was set for Internet Explorer and was changed to some search engine I never knew existed. Hidden programs have infiltrated my computer and set it to randomly open windows to casino ads and porn sites.

My e-mail is constantly bombarded with ads from companies that claim I have "opted" into their e-mail list. As if I would waste my time asking someone to send me e-mails that are deleted as fast as they are received. Can I have a little orange juice with that spam at 6:30 in the morning?

Since I have my own server, one of my e-mail addresses is not related to any of the big name e-mail sites like Yahoo, Hotmail or America Online. But those nasty little computer geeks have even invaded that part of my privacy by using my server to send out e-mail ads. They get tons of money from the dupes who actually buy into their money-making schemes, and I get to have my account flooded by all of the undeliverable e-mail. Isn't that just peachy?

My biggest frustration comes from the pop-up messages I receive when connected to the Internet. A friend of mine explained the technical aspects of this phenomenon to me, but I don't care about how it happens. All I care about is that it does happen. I get pop-ups about all kinds of stuff. I have received several pop-ups inviting me to learn how to enlarge my penis. Last time I checked, I didn't even have a penis.

I even get pop-ups telling me how to not get pop-ups. Now that is frustration to the nth degree. If I could, I'd reach through the lines that connect me to those privacy thieves and pour my orange juice all over their geeky little heads. But alas, I have no such super powers.

Is it really necessary to feel victimized in your own home at your own computer? Luckily I know someone who helped restore my computer to its original state, but that doesn't stop the spamming or the pop-ups and it doesn't protect me from future invasion.

Each state has its own anti-spam laws to protect people from this type of privacy invasion. Illinois passed its first law in 1999. In California, outgoing Gov. Gray Davis recently signed a bill that made a tough stand on spamming with fines from $1,000 per e-mail and up to $1 million per mass-mailing incident. However, the truth of the matter is it is very hard to catch and prosecute these privacy thieves.

How about a do-not-call list for computers? As a matter of fact, the U.S. Senate passed legislation last week that would increase penalties for spammers on a national level and would start a do-not-spam list. Anyone have a pen handy?

Although spamming is only one of the many invasions of privacy on my computer and although this new legislation has been too long in coming, I have to admit I'm quite relieved to see help is on the way. Until then, I will try to go about my daily routine without allowing those privacy thieves to get me too frustrated.

However, I do not intend to share my OJ or my toast with them - unless they like OJ as shampoo.

The GED Test: A Thinking Marathon

The GED test is grueling. A timed 7.5-hour test, it's a thinking marathon, and GED students should prepare for the test just like a runner would get ready for a challenging athletic event.

For people who are accustomed to working on their feet and moving around all day, just sitting in one place hour after hour is a very tough challenge. So it's important that GED test candidates prepare their bodies and minds for sitting still and concentrating over a long period of time.

Here are some ways to prepare for the GED thinking marathon:

Train your Brain: Make sure your GED test preparation includes periodic lengthy study sessions -- six, seven or even eight hours at a stretch -- to give yourself experience with sitting and thinking over long time periods. Just as a marathon runner accustoms the body to long distances, you'll need to practice and develop concentration techniques to maneuver successfully through the long-distance GED test.

Pace & Persevere: The competitor who starts a 26-mile race on a sprint seldom finishes the race. But smart marathoners understand pacing, energy preservation and perseverance. So smart GED test candidates need to determine how to pace themselves over the full test course -- mentally, physically and energetically.

Take some practice tests that approximate the test time. This will give you real-time experience with timing, pacing and alert you to obstacles, along with the perseverance techniques it takes to overcome them.

Avoid Brain Drain: It won't be possible to stop the GED test for a 10-minute power nap. But relaxation techniques can be just as effective. Using these techniques during the test are a good way to reduce stress, relax the body, mind and re-energize thinking skills. Just consider the impact that five minutes of stretching and fresh air have on drivers who are traveling cross-country.

A variety of relaxation techniques can be used, and there are many one or two-minute methods that work well. Some people simply relax all their muscles for a few moments, close their eyes, breathe deeply and visualize a pleasant relaxing scene. Some people use meditation skills they've learned through fitness classes, massage therapy or yoga. Or other people alternate muscular tightening with muscular relaxing, breathing deeply as they move through muscle groups from head to toe. And some people even use selfhypnosis.

Explore a variety of relaxation methods until you identify one that works for you. It's an excellent skill that will help you avoid brain drain, persevere through the test and 'go the distance.'

Power Up: A critical part of the athlete's preparation is diet, nutrition and sleep. And research shows that these factors are just as important to healthy brains as they are to healthy bodies. Are you nutritionally sound? While fast food is convenient, it's not a good diet before a marathon. Eat healthy, especially a few days before the test. Make sure your diet includes foods designed for physical and mental stamina. Get plenty of rest, too, so you won't be fatigued halftway through the test.

Ready to run? Make sure you dress for the weather. Wear clothing that's comfortable, with a healthy snack or two in your pocket. And when test breaks are given, take a real break. Stretch, breathe deeply; clear your mind. Drink water -- eat your healthy snack.

And don't forget to visualize your goal. Just like the marathoner keeps the mind's eye and energetic focus on the finish line, GED test candidates will want to keep an eye on the credential. Visualizing success is a motivator -- important during study time and at test time.

How to Become a Medical Malpractice Lawyer in New York

There's an old joke that asks "How do you get to Cargenie Hall?" The answer is "Practice." The same can be said for becoming a medical malpractice lawyer in New York.

My first boss, a well-known trial attorney in New York, told me one day after an exhausting and productive day, that trial lawyers are not born great trial lawyers. Rather, they must practice their trade day in and day out. Only through experience and practice can one become a truly good lawyer.

Becoming a lawyer

In order to become a lawyer in New York, you must attend four years of college. You then must take the LSAT (law school admission test) and apply for admission to law school. Law school is usually a three year program, and once you finish school- you must take the New York State Bar Exam. This is a two day exam that tests your knowledge of general and specific areas of law. Once you pass the bar exam, you must pass an interview with the character and fitness committee in the County in which you live. Once you have passed the interview you will be permitted to practice law in the State of New York.

Gaining experience

Most attorneys will go to work for a law firm to gain experience, and after a few years, move to a different firm. Some will open their own law firms, and some will remain where they started. One of the best ways to gain experience in medical malpractice law in New York is to work in a defense litigation firm that handles medical malpractice defense. There you will learn to handle the file, deal with paperwork, attend court conferences, deal with clients, take depositions, and if you're lucky, assist senior attorneys with trials. In years past, the younger associates at such defense firms could easily count on starting their own trials within one to two years of passing the bar. However, with malpractice cases being so complex, and physicians and insurance companies being weary of the young novice attorney representing such significant matters, it's unlikely that you will be handling your own trial until you are either a partner, or have many years of experience under your belt- even if you are the smartest attorney to come out of your class.

Medical malpractice law

Medical malpractice law is a sub-specialty of tort law- also known as personal injury law. The only way to become good at it is to gain experience by practice and guidance with a senior trial lawyer who handles these cases on a day to day basis. Not only do you need to learn the law specific to medical malpractice issues, but you also have to become somewhat of an expert on the medicine involved in the case.

Learning the medicine occurs by reading medical literature, medical textbooks, speaking with physicians, consulting with your medical experts, and treating doctors. Learning how to apply that knowledge to your case is what takes time and experience. Learning how to cross-examine a doctor at a deposition or question him skillfully at trial is what separates the good attorney from the excellent attorney.

Contrary to what we see on television, the key to being a good trial attorney who handles medical malpractice cases is preparation. Preparation of the medicine, preparation of your records, exhibits, your clients, and your experts; in a word: Preparation. You must know your case better than your own client does. You must educate the Court about your case, the law involved specifically in your case, and must convey your knowledge to the jury in a way that makes your case more believable than your adversary's case.

My own experience

In my daily practice, I truly enjoy handling medical malpractice cases. I enjoy speaking with potential clients who call to see whether they have valid cases that warrant investigating and prosecuting. The hardest part of my job is telling a potential client that I cannot accept their case. When that happens the natural question is "Why can't you take my case?" The answer to that question can be simple or complex depending on the type of case they're calling about.

Being able to help victims of medical malpractice is always rewarding, as many of these victims cannot help themselves and need legal help with rebuilding their lives, their finances and their frail bodies.

For those who call for tort reform, keep in mind that there are many instances of valid malpractice cases here in New York that so few contrarians even wish to discuss. Rather, they want to focus on a few bad apples who bring cases that are questionable. Instead of focusing on a few bad apples, keep your mind focused on what can be done to prevent malpractice from happening, and once it does happen, how to properly and fully compensate the injured victim.

You stare at them in dismay. There's just no way this extension is going to be able to withstand the demands you'll be making of it. First good storm and the stupid thing would topple like a stack of cards.

What kind of contractor would use such poor building materials? Only an idiot would dream of building anything with such structurally unsound building materials. You fire the contractor right on the spot.

Sundays Are For Reflections!

Thank God for Sunday. A day for reflection. Life is moving as I feel it in different speeds. When we were kids the seasons were so long. The winter holidays were extreme long. The snow was deep and high. Our summers were very hot.

In the early teenage time seemed to speed up little more. Do you remember your older relatives always made comments like Gosh how big you are now and oh what time is running away. Now you can relate to those comments. So what can we do? Is it always like this? I think when you are busy and you are happy time is moving faster. When you are sad, unhappy and do not have things to do time seems to stand still.

What is the advice then? Time is always moving so we can not do anything about that. It is the way we see it or interpret it.

Lucky us we can not do anything to change the time so it has to be ourselves. Take the Sunday to reflect on how you use the time. Is it important to do that? Well it is all up to you.

For me I like to take the time to do it on Sunday. As the bible say to rest on the seventh day. I prefer to take the rest on Sunday. You can choose which day you like most. Maybe you are working on Sunday and prefer another day and thats fine. It seems to be a set time we are on this planet. What we do of it is very personal. Some people just live the days as it come others like to plan every detail of it. If you do plan it think again of what you are planning. What is important in your life today? Is it the same as it was years ago? So now when you plan what is it you are aiming for? Maybe it is the brand new car or a great holiday? Or is it a long life plan for the family? Can we enjoy life more without planning? If we would let go of the watch who would tell us about the time? Try that every now and then. Let go of time. Enjoy the moments that comes by. Look at the nature. How is the nature created by the time? Watch the animals they do not have a clue what time it is. When I am at my evening walks I notice that the gees walks in different ways as I approach them and another direction as 1, 5 hours walk I meet them again. They have their night snacks along the path. The sunrise is also in a different look. The colours are different and the air is thicker in the evening and thinner in the morning. Flowers and the grass smell different depending on the time. Be out there taking a smell and watch the nature. That is what I mean by thank God is Sunday.
